An African verity of coffee which has been discovered in 20th century. Initially it was only cultivated in the parts of Central Africa during the discovery in 1903. Today it is cultivated in Vietnam, Philippines and even in India.
Excelsa coffee grows best in altitudes b/w 1000& 1300 m.a.s.l., it is and tree like plant rather than a shrub. The leaves of the plant are large and leathery which measures average 26cm long by q3cm wide.
Excelsa beans are also lower in caffeine which range from 0.86 to 1.13g per 100g. However this plants are more resistant to many of the common diseases and pests.
Excelsa coffee has a distinctive tart, fruity, Dark, mysterious taste. It's a compelling and unique coffee experience, like a good scotch..
